The main event will feature a bantamweight showdown between top Tajik prospect Muin “Tajik” Gafurov and top Brazilian prospect Herbeth “Indio” Sousa. The entire main card will be available worldwide on UFC FIGHT PASS® at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.
“We are excited to bring a huge international conflict to LFA 134 at the Centroplex in Texas,” Soares said. “Muin Gafurov is Tajikistan’s top MMA prospect and has competed around the world. Herbeth Sousa is a BJJ black belt and one of Brazil’s most successful bantamweight prospects. This will be only the second time that a man has competed in the United States and promised to give a memorable showdown in the depths of Texas at the Bell County Expo Center.
Gafurov (17-4) came to the LFA as a national hero in his home country of Tajikistan because he was one of the most well-equipped martial arts athletes. Tajikistan is a mountainous country in Central Asia that prefers war games. Indeed, the country has made wrestling its national sport, a form of traditional wrestling. Naturally, Gafurov gave up a promising football career when he realized he was even more talented as a fighter.
Sousa (15-1) will make his LFA debut with deep admiration for playing a fight after gaining notoriety in another country. In fact, he hails from the Brazilian capital, Brasilia, and holds the rank of Black Belt in BJJ, the most famous martial art in his country. In addition to coming from a country full of enthusiastic fighting fans, Sousa shares other similarities with her Asian counterpart.
Sousa dominated the undefeated Russian champion to win the unanimous decision, but since she had lost weight the day before, she did not deserve the title at home. “Índio” will now use that experience in LFA 134.
